Fire watch on Long Island.
Long Island fire watch, for the buildings this page covers, means a watch ordered in Nassau County, following the Nassau County Fire Commission’s published Fire Watch Requirements. It is not an FDNY F-01 post. If your building is in Brooklyn, Queens, or the Bronx, use the New York City fire watch pages.
Call 347-991-0121 and have the order, or a description of the system that is out. Tristate Security Patrol’s address is in Brooklyn, NY 11204. The officers still have to meet the county’s rules for the watch itself.
For most standard posts, uniformed officers are scheduled within 24–48 hours. Emergency coverage is coordinated through 24/7 dispatch.
A dedicated watch, logged, until the marshal releases it.
The Nassau sheet is written as instructions to an owner who has been ordered to keep a fire watch. It expects officers whose only duty is the watch, a chain of command, training on that property, and a log that shows where they walked and what they found. The log has to be available for review and is faxed daily to the Fire Marshal’s office.
That is a different product from a security guard who also watches a gate. The county text says fire watch officers shall be assigned no other duties. A construction site that wants both theft protection and a fire watch should plan on two roles unless the ordering office says otherwise.

Hourly rounds
All interior and exterior areas on defined routes, at least once an hour, more often if needed.
Log book
Locations patrolled and conditions found, kept on site for review.
Communications
A way to reach a constantly attended location from the areas being walked, plus 911.
Extinguisher
The sheet says the officer is provided with a portable extinguisher as part of the equipment.
Nassau buildings, not a copy of the Brooklyn fire code.
Nassau occupancies that lose a sprinkler or an alarm are dealing with the county fire marshal and the local fire chief, not with an FDNY certificate counter. The sheet tells management to notify the local fire chief when the watch starts. It also says the watch continues until the Fire Marshal’s office says the conditions are corrected. A repair ticket alone is not the cancellation. The office wants the log and the service ticket before it lifts the order.

What the Nassau County sheet actually says.
The Nassau County Fire Commission page titled Fire Watch Requirements says management notifies the local fire chief, assigns fire watch officers no other duties, sets a chain of command, and trains those officers on the buildings, the hazards, the alarm and suppression equipment, shutdown procedures, and the emergency plan. Patrol routes have to be defined so the correct areas are walked. Patrols happen as often as necessary, and every area is patrolled at least once per hour.
Officers keep a log of activities, locations, and conditions, available at all times. They have a portable extinguisher and continuous communication with a constantly attended location, and that equipment has to work in all areas of the facility. The log is faxed daily to the Nassau County Fire Marshal’s Office at (516) 573-9072. The page is the county’s own guideline for watches it has ordered. It is not a substitute for reading the order you received.
New York security guard registration still applies if the person is performing security guard work. The fire-watch duties are whatever the county order adds. Do not send a New York City F-01 number as if it automatically satisfied a Nassau order. Ask the marshal’s office if they want a specific certificate.
Licensed officers, documented work.
The company will staff a Nassau watch to the sheet above and to the order you were given. It does not claim to be the fire marshal, and it does not cancel a watch. Only that office does.
Founded in 2021. Business address in Brooklyn. No Nassau building is named as a past job.
What is published, and what is quoted.
A Long Island fire watch is quoted from the size of the property and how long the order will last. Around-the-clock coverage, which the impairment requires until it is lifted, is not a $399 monthly patrol.
Answers, in plain language.
What are Nassau County fire watch requirements?
The Fire Commission sheet requires dedicated officers, defined hourly patrols of all areas, a log, communications, an extinguisher, notice to the local fire chief, and a daily fax of the log to (516) 573-9072 until the watch is released.
Is this the same as FDNY fire guard?
No. F-01 and F-60 are New York City certificates. A Nassau order follows the county sheet and the local fire chief. Use the NYC guide only if the building is in the city.
Can our maintenance staff do the watch?
The Nassau sheet says the officers assigned to fire watch have no other duties. Do not plan on them also running the building.
How do we stop the watch?
The county page says you notify the Fire Marshal after repairs and provide the log and the service ticket. They decide if the watch can be lifted.
Who do we call to staff it?
Tristate Security Patrol at 347-991-0121. Send the order and the address.
