Armed security guards in New Jersey.

Armed security in New Jersey, on this site, means an armed post in Newark, Jersey City, Hoboken, Edison, or Paterson. Those are the New Jersey cities on the coverage page. The officer needs a New Jersey SORA armed certification and a separate legal authority to carry a firearm. The SORA card alone does not allow a gun.

Call 347-991-0121 and name the city. Tristate Security Patrol’s published address is in Brooklyn, NY, not in New Jersey. A New York armed registration does not transfer.

For most standard posts, uniformed officers are scheduled within 24–48 hours. Emergency coverage is coordinated through 24/7 dispatch.

What we provide

Armed posts in the five listed cities.

Clients in these cities ask for armed retail doors, building posts, and occasional protective work. The post orders have to say the city, because a Jersey City high-rise lobby and an Edison commercial lot are not the same shift, and the drive from Brooklyn is not the same either.

Unarmed SORA officers are the alternative when the site does not need a firearm. Do not upgrade a post to armed only because the search result said “armed.”

SORA armed certification

State Police requirements, including the armed course path and annual renewal.

Carry credential

A New Jersey concealed-carry permit or retired-officer authorization. Required in addition to SORA.

Listed cities only on this page

Newark, Jersey City, Hoboken, Edison, and Paterson.

No reciprocity

A New York guard card, armed or not, does not replace SORA.

On the ground

North Jersey cities, scheduled from Brooklyn.

Newark, Jersey City, and Hoboken sit close to the Hudson. Edison and Paterson are farther from the Brooklyn base. A quote should include the start time you need, not an assumption that an officer is already in that city. The site does not publish a New Jersey response time.

No New Jersey client, warehouse, or tower is named. If your site is outside the five cities, say so. The coverage page is the list. This page does not quietly add shore towns or South Jersey.

Local rules

What the New Jersey State Police publish about armed officers.

The State Police SORA page says security officers complete a 24-hour course from a certified instructor. Unarmed certification renews every two years with an 8-hour refresher. There is no reciprocity with other states. Fingerprints are part of the application.

On armed officers, the same page says the person must have a New Jersey concealed-carry permit or be in the retired police officer program in order to carry a firearm as a security officer, and it states in capital letters that the certification alone does not allow you to possess a firearm. Armed certification renews every year with an 8-hour refresher.

Credentials

Licensed officers, documented work.

Posts are filled with officers who hold the New Jersey credentials for an armed assignment. A New York armed guard is not sent to work armed in New Jersey on the strength of the New York card.

Founded in 2021. The only street address published is 5314 16th Avenue, Suite 238, Brooklyn, NY 11204.

What is published, and what is quoted.

New Jersey armed coverage is quoted. Community Watch membership prices are for New York City. An armed door in Newark, Jersey City, Hoboken, Edison, or Paterson is a separate quote.

Questions

Answers, in plain language.

Do you provide armed security in New Jersey?

Yes, for Newark, Jersey City, Hoboken, Edison, and Paterson. Call 347-991-0121.

Can my New York armed guard work a New Jersey site?

Not on a New York registration alone. New Jersey State Police say there is no reciprocity, and armed carry needs a New Jersey credential besides the SORA certification.

Does SORA armed certification let the officer carry?

No. The State Police say the certification alone does not allow possession of a firearm. A New Jersey carry permit or retired-officer authorization is also required.

How much does it cost?

Armed New Jersey posts are quoted. No hourly rate is published.

Is there a New Jersey office?

No. The published address is in Brooklyn.
